David Zwirner's gallery opened in February 1993 on the ground floor of 43 Greene Street in SoHo and rapidly became known for being the home for innovative, emerging artists working across media. Over the years, the gallery has helped foster the careers of some of the most influential artists working today, including Luc Tuymans and Neo Rauch, who both had their U.S. debut exhibitions at David Zwirner in 1994 and 2000 respectively. In 2002, the gallery moved to 525 West 19th Street in Chelsea and four years later expanded from 10,000 to 30,000 square feet by adding spaces at 519 and 533 West 19
