To all those art-lovers that are interested in visiting the main artistic hubs of Manhattan, the Lower East Side is a sure bet. This southeastern part of the borough is bounded by East Broadway, Eldridge Street, Canal Street, Essex Street, Allen Street, and East Houston.

You can start by strolling down the Bowery by Prince Street to New Museum of Contemporary Art and view Mary Heilmann's painting exhibition or Elizabeth Peyton show.

Behind the Bowery, at 201 Chrystie Street, Lehmann Maupin Gallery's second location showcases Japanese artist MR..'s new work, which includes paintings and a video.

Next, walk down to 5 Rivington Street, where Israeli-born artist Keren Cytter exhibits her new work at Thierry Goldberg Projects, from January 9 to February 8.

Continuing deeper into the L.E.S. you will encounter LMAKprojects, on Eldridge between Delancey and Broome. It is known for its video and film concentration. Nava Lubelski presents her signature three-dimensional paintings and sculpture, from January 10 to February 15.
