About this Artwork :
World Wall is a tribute to New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Mardi Gras relics evoke memory as well as dislocation and loss, yet in the multitude and excess of component parts speak to the possibility of a recovery and renewal. A picture of the ruins of Trecartin’s New Orleans home is visible through the mirror, connecting his personal experience to a larger local one.
