Place(s) of work: Paris (fr)
French photographer Ambroise Tézenas is highly tuned to "the decisive moment" by capturing rare silence and light throughout bustling streets and alleys, towering skylines, and urban landscapes. Traveling the world for personal projects and photo-journalistic assignments, Ambroise has combed through metropolises such as Beijing, Mumbai, and Stockholm seeking a distinct and unified story at each destination.
Born in Paris, Ambroise Tézenas graduated from the Applied Arts School of Vevey, Switzerland in 1994. His works have appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Newsweek, and Le Monde 2. His book Beijing, theatre of the people, a study of the changes happening in Beijing before the 2008 Olympics, won the Leica European Publishers Award for Photography in 2006. Exhibitions of Ambroise's work have been on view at Galerie Philippe Chaume (Paris), Young Gallery (Brussels), Kunsthal Museum (Netherlands), and the Paris-Beijing Photo Gallery (Beijing). His work is part of the Bibliothèque nationale de France public collection.(read less)
